Article Summary
This article explores the argument of subjugation and management as irrefutable evidence of the Creator's existence. It begins by describing the magnificent harmony in the universe, from the movement of the sun and moon to the flow of rivers and winds. It highlights how this precise system permeates all aspects of life, including plant growth, the role of insects in pollination, and the contributions of wild animals to ecological balance. Through numerous examples of subjugation in the universe, the article demonstrates that such intricate management necessitates a powerful and capable Organizer. Furthermore, it delineates the distinction between the argument of design, which reflects God’s attributes of knowledge and wisdom, and the argument of subjugation, which showcases His power and control. Ultimately, the article concludes that the evidence of subjugation and management vividly affirms the Creator's existence and His magnificent attributes.
Cosmic Harmony: A Journey into Divine Subjugation
In the vastness of this expansive universe, all creatures coexist in exquisite harmony, operating under a meticulous and precise system, akin to machines in a colossal factory governed by meticulous supervision. The sun and moon traverse their orbits, stars gleam in the night sky, rivers flow by unseen command toward seas and oceans, and winds carry clouds to rain upon predetermined places.
When we delve into the intricacies of this universe, it becomes evident that subjugation extends to all facets of life. Plants grow and flourish thanks to the sunlight that provides energy and warmth, enabling life to thrive on Earth's surface. Trees produce the oxygen we breathe while absorbing carbon dioxide, maintaining the balance of the atmosphere. Insects tirelessly pollinate plants, playing a vital role in the production of the food we consume daily.
Wild animals contribute to life cycles by dispersing seeds and maintaining ecological balance through the food chain. Rivers and streams flow to sustain lakes and oceans, providing essential drinking water for life. Towering mountains prevent soil erosion and create diverse habitats for wildlife and plants.
Seas and oceans, with their saline waters, are home to a rich and diverse marine life, ranging from tiny fish to massive whales, each playing a role in the marine ecosystem. Ocean currents distribute nutrients across the globe, supporting biodiversity beneath the waves.
Even in the depths of the Earth, there is precise subjugation. Minerals and chemical elements are distributed with precision, facilitating their extraction and use in industries and agriculture. Earthquakes and volcanoes, despite their destructive power, contribute to shaping the Earth's surface and providing fertile soil.
In the skies, birds migrate across continents, following specific routes without losing their way. Wild animals undertake seasonal migrations in search of food and water, moving in organized groups as if following an invisible map.
These numerous examples of subjugation in the universe appear before us every moment, compelling us to marvel at this intricate system and astounding coordination. These daily phenomena invite us to ponder and reflect, stirring within us a curiosity to learn more about this wondrous universe and how it operates.
The Subjugation and Management: A Testimony to the Creator’s Power
Contemplation of the universe leads us to recognize that this wondrous subjugation necessitates a Subjugator, and this precise management requires a Manager. Such an intricate system cannot function without a Creator who orchestrates its laws, governs its operations, and controls every detail.
In the Qur'an, references to this extraordinary subjugation are abundant. Allah states:
And He has subjected for you the night and day, and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed, in that are signs for people who reason.
Al-Nahl: 12
And He says:
And He has subjected for you the ships to sail through the sea by His command and has subjected for you the rivers. And He has subjected for you the sun and the moon, continuous [in orbit], and has subjected for you the night and the day.
Ibrāhīm: 32-33
These verses clearly illustrate the extent of Allah’s care and subjugation of all that exists for humanity’s benefit and well-being.
Ibn Al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) poses a profound question for reflection: "Then reflect on the one who upholds the heavens and the earth, maintaining them from collapsing, ceasing, or being disrupted. Who is the one who holds this together? Who oversees it? Who ensures its continuity?[40]"
This question opens the door to pondering over who sustains this universe and preserves its intricate order.
The answer is unequivocally provided in Allah’s words: "Indeed, Allah holds the heavens and the earth, lest they cease. And if they should cease, no one could hold them [in place] after Him. Indeed, He is Forbearing and Forgiving." (Fāṭir: 41)
This verse affirms that Allah is the one who sustains the heavens and the earth and prevents them from perishing, demonstrating His complete power and infinite wisdom.
Is Physics Alone Responsible for This Order?
If someone were to claim that the laws of physics alone govern this system, notable scholars have addressed this idea. Keith Ward, a professor at Oxford University, states:"The existence of the laws of physics does not negate the existence of God. On the contrary, their existence strongly suggests the presence of God, who designed these laws and ensured the consistency of physical reality through them.[41]"
Astrophysicist Jason Leslie adds: "Many laws of nature depend on other laws, which in turn rely on others, and so on. Ultimately, there must be a fundamental principle established only because God willed it to be so. The fundamental laws of nature, therefore, necessitate the existence of a giver of those laws.[42]"
British physicist James Prescott Joule concludes: "It is evident that something maintains order in the universe... What governs it is the independent will of God.[43]"
These insights confirm that the orderly subjugation and governance of the universe cannot be explained solely by natural laws but point unmistakably to the existence of an omnipotent and wise Creator.
The harmony of the upper and lower worlds, their interconnectedness, and their precise operation without variation or corruption are among the clearest proofs that their Administrator is One, with no god besides Him.[44]
The consistent order and harmony across the universe unmistakably testify to the existence of a wise and capable Manager who oversees the cosmos with unparalleled precision and care.
The Difference Between the Argument from Design and the Argument of Subjugation
One might ask: what distinguishes the argument from design and precision from the argument of subjugation?
The two arguments share similarities but highlight different attributes of the Creator. The argument from design emphasizes the innovative design in all creations, reflecting the divine attributes of knowledge, wisdom, kindness, and expertise. This argument showcases how everything in the universe is crafted with extraordinary precision, functioning in astonishing harmony, revealing the Creator’s comprehensive knowledge and profound wisdom in arranging matters.
In contrast, the argument of subjugation relates to universal control and cosmic domination, illustrating the complete submission of all beings to a compelling force they cannot defy. This argument highlights the divine attributes of power, dominance, and majesty. The universe operates under precise laws and ordained systems, and this unwavering compliance points to a supreme, all-powerful Controller who governs with unparalleled wisdom.
Reflecting on Subjugation and the Creator’s Power
In conclusion, the argument of subjugation and management vividly demonstrates the existence of an all-powerful Creator who governs the universe and its affairs with unparalleled wisdom. The precise order and complete submission of all beings to fixed laws and ordained systems affirm this truth unequivocally. From the sun and moon to the winds and rivers, everything functions under the command of the Creator, showcasing His attributes of power, dominance, and majesty.
This evidence is not merely a testament to God’s existence but also reflects His magnificent attributes in controlling and mastering the universe, inviting every individual to ponder and embrace faith.
